Lead Pastors of Citizen Heights
Together, they started Citizen Heights with a vision to build a church where hope is inspired, limitations are removed, and every person is welcomed to experience God’s possible for their lives. They have a unique calling to champion unity, in an often-divided city. They’ve watched in wonder, as God has gathered the diversity of their international city, into His family, and the Citizen Heights community. Over time, the church has grown to include a DC Campus in northwest corner of the city, a thriving Online Campus with an international following, and most recently, a Virginia Campus in the Dulles Corridor of Northern Virginia.
Michael & Heather have been married for 26 years and have four amazing sons. They love family time and enjoying all the sights, sounds and tastes Washington, D.C. offers.
In their free time you’ll find them riding dirt bikes, or camping and hiking. They’re also seriously big fans of all the Washington sports teams and hope you’ll join them cheering for the home teams!
MICHAEL GIROUX
As a leader, Michael has a passion to equip the everyday influential person to encounter the grace, forgiveness and hope found in the finished work of Jesus. As a pastor, He believes God is calling the modern-day Joseph, Daniel and Esther to influence their cities, and nations, as kingdom ambassadors.
Michael is known for preaching faith, hope and love with an energetic, humorous and inspirational style. His preaching helps challenge presuppositions and mindsets, unlocking potential through God’s word and practical application.
Pastor Michael, a former lawyer and prosecutor, earned his Bachelor of Theology from Portland Bible College, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Regent University School of Law. As Assistant District Attorney, New York State, he oversaw and prosecuted offenses in 12 city courts and in the New York Supreme Court. He was an advocate and council member for CASA, an organization dedicated to serving battered women through the criminal process.

HEATHER GIROUX
Pastor Heather has a passion to help people lead Christ-centered, truth-balanced and grace-filled lives. She lives to inspire others to love people, build the church, establish bridges of commonality and equip parents to build strong families.
Heather comes from a profound church-planting heritage. While growing up in New York, her family started and oversaw five churches, including one in Canada. In 1994, she helped plant Christian Life Center, in Williamsburg, Virginia, and then again in 2006, The City Life Church, in Newport News, Virginia. She is currently the Tenleytown Campus Pastor and Women’s Pastor at Citizen Heights, a church she helped found in 2007.
